Jackpot slots explained
The fact that an online casino game can have a huge jackpot (or even a relatively small one) is one of the reasons why so many people keep playing. They want to win a life changing around of money, and they want to do it for as little cash as possible – some casino games offer that trade, and so of course people are going to keep trying their best.
Yet in order to give yourself the best chance of winning, and to know just what you are getting into if and when you do win, it’s useful to know the different kinds of casino jackpots that are available, and what you might be playing for. Read on for a guide to help you or check out our blog here.
Stand Alone Jackpot
Stand alone jackpots are great for those just starting out on their casino journey. The amount of money on offer is often quite low – at least relatively speaking – with stand alone jackpots, but they are usually won more often, and some players consider this to give them a much better chance of winning; they would rather have this better chance at winning a smaller amount than little chance of winning a larger amount.
Every time a player wins a stand alone jackpot, the prize pot is replenished so that someone else has a chance to win.
Stand Alone Progressive Jackpot
It might sound like a contradiction in terms, but there is such a thing as a stand alone progressive jackpot. Rather than having one set amount that is paid out when a player triggers the correct sequence of symbols, every time the jackpot is not won, the prize amount gets bigger. This will often be localised to just one machine though, so if you want to win this prize, you’ll need to stay where you are. Be careful to stick to your budget at the same time of course.
Linked Progressive Jackpot
A progressive jackpot is always an exciting thing to play – watching the numbers go up as the game is played makes everyone involved want to play more and more. The difference between a stand alone progressive jackpot and a linked one is that the linked progressive jackpot will be played by multiple players across a variety of different games. Rather than just being on one machine, there are many, and therefore many more people who could win. Since these people are all paying in, the jackpots of these machines tend to be much higher than any other.
